Flight.
For the first project in my first year our theme was 'Flight' for which I created a nineteen-sixties, space age inspired shift dress. This project was my first proper experience of creating a pattern.
This feather was created using dissolvable stitch, this later
went onto a screen which I created a print from.

This is an example page from my sketchbook showing the stages
 of creating this pattern.

My final design was influenced by the designs of Mary Quant and
the flight paths of birds.

The back of my final piece shows the
influence of space age fashion in
my work.

Final Major Project Year 1: 1960's Monochrome.
For this project I chose the title and concept as I feel extremely inspired by the nineteen-sixties.
I wanted to create a piece influenced by modern designers like Mark Fast and Alexander Wang, as well as sixties designers/artists such as Mary Quant and Bridget Riley.
This moodboard was created at the start of the project including images
from both modern and sixties designers.
This sketchbook page compiles the different types of research that influenced
my work, specifically squares in architecture.

Here I sampled Tomoko Nakamichi's advanced pattern cutting
to  further my skills.

This design was the final drawing which I then created
my pattern from.

This technical drawing helped problem solve how
I was going to construct the garment.
This image shows some of the stages of construction including: darts, over locking
and creating an inner lining.

I selected this image for the styling of the photo shoot. I tried to combine
iconic sixties make up with a modern hairstyle.

Plastic:
For the first project this year we were given the title 'plastic' something which I didn't find overly inspiring. However, I feel that I created a good final piece influenced by flowers and in particular designer Alexander McQueen.

These design roughs were created for this project to explore different styles
of each garment (top and skirt) I wanted to create.

I selected this image because it shows the detail of the garment.
