'Flight'

The title of the first Fashion and Textile project of the first year was titled 'Flight'. I looked a lot at 60's designer Mary Quant and also flight paths.

This was my first generic moodboard for the project of 'flight' that was included in my sketchbook.

This A2 board that shows a more focused approach to what direction I wanted to explore during this project.

Circles was a theme within this project as well as 'Flight' and also the nineteen sixties. I have used
techniques such as heat transfer and bondaweb applique on this particular page.

On this page I have sampled techniques such as 'bagging out', screen printing and fabric crayons.

This page shows different techniques I sampled including screen printing, dissolvable stitch and weaving thread using pins and setting it with PVA glue.

This was my final design from this project with detailed annotation of what each element is.

This is an image of my patten development. I really enjoying creating and cutting patterns and found this particular A-line pattern quite easy to create.

The making stage of the project is documented
here. The manufacturing stage of a project is
probably the most stressful for my but it is what
I enjoy the most along with pattern cutting.

The final outcome for this project was shown at my local museum in a collaboration with the dance students at Exeter college to create garments based on the theme which they then choreographed a piece for.
